The Internship aims to give the student the opportunity to apply academic knowledge in production and is the first contact of the future young engineer with his potential work environment. The Internship provides the student with the opportunity to work on the objects of his studies in real conditions, offers him a more complete knowledge of the range of activities he can develop from the beginning of his studies, as well as knowledge of the real problems and peculiarities of the scientific area he will choose. In addition, the Internship helps students to understand the requirements of the work environment, to gain professional conscience and then to make the right choices for the Practice of their profession.
The utilization of the Internship by the implementing bodies is a form of investment in a remarkable scientific potential with a perspective of depth of time and further employment relationship after the end of the Internship.
The Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering offers Internship programs in organizations and companies of the private and public sector.
The funding of the Internship comes from:
- Community Funds (NSRF program)
- Manpower Employment Organization (OAED) (only for students of the old study programs)
- Private Financing
- Erasmus Plus program
The Department, in order to support the institution of the Internship in practice, decided to approve the introduction of the Internship in the Curriculum as equivalent to one (1) to (3) semester Specialty Elective course which each corresponds to 5 ECTS credits.
The Internship is optional, takes place in the last two years of study and lasts at least 2 months. More specifically, an Internship lasting at least 2 months corresponds to 5 ECTS, an Internship lasting at least 4 months corresponds to 10 ECTS and an Internship lasting at least 6 months the Internship corresponds to 15 ECTS. The employer or funding program must provide monthly compensation for each student and risk insurance coverage (EFKA) in accordance with the law. The internship is mandatory in subjects that are related to the subject of Electrical & Computer Engineering.
The internship for students of TEI curricula is mandatory, lasting six months and takes place in the last semester of their studies.
