  • GenAISA Project: Shaping the Future of Generative AI Skills

Supervisor: Spyros Syrmakesis, Professor
Funding Agency: Erasmus+
Duration: 01/02/2022- 31/07/2024
Approved budget: –

As generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) rapidly transforms industries and work environments, the need for advanced digital skills has never been greater. The GenAISA Project – Generative AI Skills Academy is a cutting-edge Erasmus+ initiative designed to equip both current and future professionals with the tools, knowledge, and resilience needed to thrive in an AI-driven world.

Funded by the European Union under the Erasmus+ programme, GenAISA brings together a dynamic consortium of partners from Greece, Spain, Bulgaria, Finland, and Lithuania. The project’s main goal is to develop innovative, inclusive, and future-proof education and training programs focused on generative AI, addressing both technical and transversal

The GenAISA Project is built around a clear mission:

To close the digital skills gap and empower learners across Europe to become confident, creative, and responsible users and developers of generative AI tools.

To achieve this, GenAISA is focusing on:

  • Creating dual learning pathways in both Higher Education and Vocational Education and Training (VET)
  • Designing job profiles and a competence map for emerging GenAI professions
  • Developing interactive and scalable learning platforms including MOOCs and a Virtual World
  • Supporting learners with a Digital Skills Passport
  • Promoting resilience, creativity, and ethical awareness in the digital workplace

One of the key innovations of the project is the dual-curriculum approach:

🔹 Higher Education Track
Designed for students aiming to become Generative AI Engineers or Prompt Engineers, this track focuses on deep technical knowledge, creativity in prompt design, and responsible AI development.

🔹 Vocational Education & Training (VET) Track
Tailored to the broader workforce, this curriculum supports professionals in using GenAI tools ethically and effectively in real-world tasks — boosting productivity, decision-making, and digital confidence.

GenAISA is committed to ensuring wide access and engagement through:

  • MOOCs offering open, flexible, and certified learning experiences
  • A Virtual World for immersive and gamified training
  • A Digital Skills Passport, helping learners track and showcase their achievements
  • A Resilience Skills Course, fostering adaptability and mental readiness for digital transformation

With GenAI reshaping everything from creative industries to business operations, the GenAISA Project represents a bold step forward in preparing individuals and organizations to embrace this evolution — ethically, safely, and skillfully.

It also contributes to broader EU goals for digital transformation, inclusion, and employment resilience.
