The Student Robotics Team, headed by the Assistant Professor Sotiris Christodoulou, operates in ECE Department, with the support of the Embedded Systems and Applications Design Laboratory (ESDA LAB).
Through solving robotic challenges, the team members are encouraged to innovate and develop creativity and problem-solving skills. The team is open to new members, who are given the opportunity to practice robotic constructions, with emphasis on motion accuracy, positioning and correction and colour recognition, as well as programming (Labview, C, python, etc.) and the execution of educational scenarios.
The benefits that can be gained by students who join the robotics team include:
– Applying knowledge in disciplines such as technology, engineering, mathematics, and programming.
– Collaboration at the team level
– Discovery of individual solutions in the context of fair competition
– Combining learning with fun, regardless of the outcome
The robotics team has won major awards. In its most recent participation in the international competition Robotic Arena XIV in Poland in April 2023, it took 7th place, and in the past it has twice won first place (2019 and 2021) in the national finals of the WRO Educational Robotics Olympiad. In November 2019, the team represented Greece in the final of the Olympiad in Gyor, Hungary, ranking 9th in the world.
It should be noted that no special knowledge is required to join the team, only a passion for new technologies.
