Vassilis Kapsalis

Professor

Vassilis Kapsalis received the Diploma and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Patras, Greece, in 1990 and 1994, respectively. Since 1990 he has participated in several projects in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the University of Patras and at the Institute of Biomedical Technology (INBIT), under the framework of European and Greek programs. During that period, he has developed systems and applications for home/building automation and telemedicine systems.

From 1999 until 2007 he has worked at the Industrial Systems Institute (ISI), participating as senior research engineer and project manager in a number of research projects supported by the Greek General Secretariat of Research and Technology, the European Union and the Greek industry.

In 2007, he joined the Department of Electrical Engineering of Technological Educational Institute of Western Greece as an assistant professor, associate professor (2014) and full professor (2019).

From 2019 he is full professor at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the University of Peloponnese. He teaches the undergraduate courses “Principles of Telecommunication Systems”, “Computer Architecture”, “Computer Networks” and “Advanced Microcomputer Systems”.

From 2005 he is a tutor for the postgraduate module “Fundamental Specialization in Computer Architecture and Computer Networks” of the School of Science and Technology of the Hellenic Open University.

His research interests include real-time MAC-layer protocols, industrial and home/building networking systems, energy management, smart grid, distributed energy storage, demand flexibility and Internet of Energy (IoE). He has participated as project manager and senior researcher in a large number of projects. He is author of a number of scientific papers in international journals and conferences.
