The University of Peloponnese was founded by Presidential Decree 13/2000. It is based in Tripoli and develops at the level of integrated schools in Tripoli, Kalamata, Sparta, Nafplio, Corinth and Patras.
The aim of the establishment and operation of the University of Peloponnese is the creative contribution to the development of higher education in the Greek region, with high quality standards that meet the content of studies, research and teaching to the requirements of a modern University with national, European and international scope.
The University of the Peloponnese, at the beginning of its third decade of operation, has been established as the only academic Institution of Higher Education in the Peloponnese Region, as it has already developed close ties in the geographical area of the Peloponnese, nationally and internationally.
Many academic and scientific institutions in Greece and abroad collaborate with the University of Peloponnese in national and European programs either in joint postgraduate programs or as partners in international research consortia, in several of which the University of Peloponnese has the role of coordinator. Also, many members of the academic community of the University actively participate in the public and social dialogue on current issues by utilizing and promoting their knowledge and arguments.
